Wizgrids Map Set 32 (Grindor Library and Hilltop Tower)

The first is Grindor LIbrary (25x25), an ancient lost wing of the great mystical library; so ancient, in fact, that none of the current librarians are even really aware of its existence. The closest that anything comes to knowledge of its true location are rumors and suspicions passed down through the ages from Head Librarian to their successors. Eventually a curious student happens upon the secret door leading to the library, solving the puzzle granting entrance to it's wonders and arcane knowledge.
Encounter Ideas:
- Mummy Guardians - Opening the library unleashes an ancient mummy curse. Interred within the library walls were several powerful mummified guardians enchanted with arcane protections to enhance their capabilities.
- Evaporating Knowledge - The exposure of the library's carefully curated environment to outside air has caused the books contained within to rapidly deteriorate. Now there's limited time to gather the most valuable pieces and protect them before they're lost forever.
- In Defense of the Light - Invaders from the League of Anti-Thought are determined to destroy the library's contents. Hold them off until reinforcements arrive.
The second map is Hilltop Tower (30x45), a small fortified tower watching over a well-traveled trade route. The tower guards offer protection to travelers from roving orc tribes, bandit gangs or whatever other dangers they face traversing the king's road. A few merchants have even set up small trading stalls to help replenish supplies or at least offer a simple meal. Of course, passers-by are expected to pay a small toll as building towers and feeding guardsmen isn't cheap. For most it's well worth paying for the safe travels. Others, however, will try to find a way to avoid paying the tax by sneaking around the tower along the cliff-face. If one is too poor to pay the toll a day's labor is usually sufficient: chopping logs, clearing brush, cooking or cleaning.
Encounter Ideas:
- Orcs Attack! - A band of orcs has come to the tower's foot and demands tribute from those within. Help anybody outside the walls to safety and defend the tower against the roving orcs.
- Lazy Guardsmen - Fresh guards after rotation have yet to show up and the Captain needs help running the tower for a day. For double pay he needs the adventurers to take on the duties of the missing guardsmen. Collect tolls, search for contraband and defend the tower against assault.
- Rare Bird Sighting - A rare bird that nests on the ridges of the cliffs has been sited and a local bird enthusiast needs help capturing it. Scale the cliffside and retrieve one of the birds, or at least, one of its eggs.
